Free Assistance from Utilities

All electricity ratepayers contribute to a fund to support energy efficiency programs that are overseen by the Massachusetts Division of Energy Resources (DOER), and administered by electric and gas utilities, and municipal aggregators. You may qualify for a free energy audit through your electric or gas utility.

These audits are provided through a program called Residential Conservation Service (RCS). RCS provides one-stop shopping to Massachusetts residential utility customers for energy efficiency and renewable energy services. If you qualify for an audit, an energy specialist will come to your home and provide you with a report on the most cost-effective energy efficiency measures for you to pursue. The energy specialist will also inform you of rebate opportunities that can save you up to $1,000 on measures such as insulation.

Call the Massachusetts Residential Efficiency and Renewable Energy Hotline (1-866-527-7283) or visit www.state.ma.us/doer/programs/resident/resident.htm or www.masssave.com for more information.
